Concrete & Masonry in Dallas-Fort Worth

Concrete work in North Texas is not like concrete work in other parts of the country. The expansive clay soil that runs through much of the Dallas-Fort Worth area puts significant pressure on slabs, foundations, and flatwork. Work that is installed correctly handles this movement without cracking. Work that cuts corners does not last.

Espinoza Chavez Construction approaches concrete and masonry with an understanding of local soil conditions and how they affect long-term performance. We use the right mix designs, the right reinforcement, and the right curing process for each application. A residential driveway in Garland and a foundation slab in Frisco are not installed with the same approach.

Driveways and patios are our most common flatwork projects. A properly installed concrete driveway in DFW should last 25 to 30 years with minimal maintenance. We use 4,000 PSI mix minimums for driveways, proper sub-base compaction, appropriate rebar or fiber reinforcement, and correct joint placement to control cracking. These are not optional steps, they are what separates work that lasts from work that fails.

Retaining walls require structural engineering considerations, especially for walls over 4 feet in height. We build retaining walls with proper drainage to relieve hydrostatic pressure, appropriate footing depth, and materials selected for the specific load and aesthetic requirements of the site.

Masonry work, including brick veneer, stone facing, block walls, and outdoor kitchens, requires skilled labor and the right mortar mix. We take the time to plan the layout, keep courses level and consistent, and clean up the finished work properly. The details matter in masonry because there is nowhere to hide them.
